Papers, 1825-1861.

The collection consists of miscellaneous correspondence of Ely, a sermon manuscript, and the marriage contract of Ely and his second wife. The "Memoir." concerns the difficulty Ely had in obtaining letters dimissory from the Presbytery of Missouri to return to Philadelphia in 1844. The legal papers deal with his administration of the Carswell estate in 1836.
